Beliefs
Henry Ford reportedly said: "If you think you can, or you think you can't, you're probably right". Is that an over-simplification? Maybe, BUT, there are many documented cases of where people have achieved what many thought could not be done, because they believed they could, and they kept trying until they succeeded. When people believe they can't do something, they've decided to not even try. If you look for obstacles, obstacles is what you'll find. If you look for opportunities and possibilities, then you'll find opportunities and possibilities.
If you like the story of The Little Engine That Could, you'll find more info on it at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Little_Engine_That_Could. Believing you can, combined with determination is a winning combination.
What would happen if...... you reset your password on your computer to something like <your name>"can", or <your name>"can~do", or some variation of that? Is it possible that every time you enter your password, that you would give your brain the message that you can [do whatever you want to do?
Morris Goodman, the Miracle Man; He never believed he couldn’t fully recover, scroll down on the link to the short video.
On March 10th, 1981, Morris Goodman crashed an airplane. Among other injuries, he broke the first and second cervical vertebrae in his neck. According to the doctors, NO one had ever survived such injuries. The doctors believed he would be a 'vegetable' the rest of his life, if he lived. Nine months later Morris Goodman walked out of the hospital on his own two feet with no mechanical aids.
While the doctors believed it couldn’t be done, Morris was determined, and Morris succeeded.
We are free to focus on what we want to. Identify what you want to move towards. Identify people who have achieved similar results like what you would like to achieve, and then study how they accomplished achieving what you want to achieve. Then you have a strategy, a model to follow, a strategy that has worked for others, that has a proven success record.
And, if you are charting new territory, you're determined to create what has never been done before, chunk it, divide the whole into 'chewable' pieces, create a project plan using MicroSoft Project or other project management software. Many of the individual tasks, when it is divided into the component parts, are very simple, do-able, manageable. A walk of a mile is a collection of steps taken one step at a time.
Are you deciding what YOU want in your life, or are you accepting someone else's agenda, or the cultural conditioning, the propaganda from professional pick pockets like the junk food industry?
There are lots of people and businesses who / which would like to convince you to buy what they are peddling, whether beliefs or things, many which you don't need, many which are hazardous to your health and well being.
The Golden Rule has multiple forms. One form of the Golden Rule says that he who has the gold, gets to make the rules. You are free to decide what to do with your money, time and energy.
| There are junk / fast 'food' places that peddle 'foods' that will undermine your health, and likely put lots of pounds on you at the same time. If you haven't seen the Video "Supersize Me", it's worth seeing. The author went on a McDonald's binge for 30 days and within less than half that time the doctors were urging him to stop because it was seriously undermining his health. | |
| There are huge medical and pharmaceutical industries that want you to believe that you've got to be co-dependant upon them, more than tithe to them, to be healthy. Then, there are also a lot of people who reject their propaganda, and very rarely see a doctor, or take so much as an aspirin, and enjoy long term vibrant health, by taking personal responsibility for what they eat, and expose themselves to, their environment. | |
| Surveys have shown that the 'average' person watches something over 15 hours of television a week. Then, there are others like myself, who probably watch less than 15 hours of television a year. | |
| The native American Indians were very dependant upon buffalo hide and meat for their survival. They discovered that they could get all they wanted without even pulling an arrow out of their quiver. They realized that buffalo run with their head down, following another asshole, rather than looking where they were going. The Indians would stampede the herd of buffalo toward the top of a cliff, and then ride around to the bottom, and have all the hide and meat that they wanted. The moral is... survival depends on not following an asshole. [pardon the vernacular]. |
