The Power of Empowering Questions

Questions help us direct / control our focus.  And, there are some simple tricks that we can use if we have doubts about our ability to do something.  If we question our ability, we can preface a question with "Maybe it is impossible, BUT, if it were possible, how would I do it, or where would I start?

Questions direct our focus, and our OTC, that part of our brain that is 3200 times more powerful than our conscious mind, then starts working on the answer to the questions that we ask ourselves.  Because that powerhouse of our OTC goes to work on answering our questions, that is why it is so important to phrase our questions so they are empowering, and not self defeating.  What would be a self defeating type of question:  "How can I get out of debt?".  There the focus is on debt.  A better question might be: "How can I create more abundance in my life, and enjoy the process?".

We can cut the word "impossible" out of our dictionary, and literally burn it.  That act of actually cutting the word 'impossible' out of our dictionary, and burning it is very powerful.

Then you can put a paperclip on the page where "excuse" is.  Chances are, you'll never go back to that page.  People don't make excuses for success.

Quitters never win, and winners never quit.  And, every winner starts off as a Beginner.   Anything worth doing, is worth doing poorly at first.  When we first started to learn to walk, we were not perfect, we fell, probably fell lots of times, and, quite quickly we mastered walking, and then started running, maybe to our parent's dismay, some of the time.

There was a time when I realized that I had accumulated more weight / fat around my middle than I wanted.  I decided to work toward regaining slimness.  My focus was on regaining SLIM, which I had not so many years ago.  That focus led me to eliminate a few things from my diet, and drink more water. Within about six weeks I had lost over ten pounds.  And, I continue to be a little more selective in my dietary choices... practically zero dairy.  I haven't bought any of that soy "ice cream" from the health food store, since realizing that I had accumulated more fat than I am willing to accept.    What can I do today that will help me achieve the slimness that I want, help me get down to 160 pounds, and enjoy the process?

NOTE that my question does NOT include the word "lose".  Few people want to 'lose' anything.  If you aren't sure about how to frame questions to make them optimally empowering, seek assistance from someone who is skilled at framing empowering questions.

Some samples of Empowering Questions

  1. How can I achieve financial abundance in my life, and enjoy the process?
  2. What do I enjoy doing most?  [and take time to recall and / or imagineer doing it].  This is a tool for bringing us into balance, harmony.  Recalling and / or imagineering is likely to help us create great brain and body chemistry, and relax.
  3. Who would be willing to pay me well for what I thoroughly enjoy doing?
  4. How can I improve my dietary choices so they better support vibrant health, and enjoy the process?
  5. How can I attract more empowering relationships into my life, and enjoy the process?
  6. Maybe it's impossible, BUT, if it were possible, what would it be like if.....?  [you fill in the rest of this sentence]

The "Maybe it's Impossible, BUT" preface is handy anytime you question whether you can do something.

The "and enjoy the process" is a handy tail to put on the end of most questions.

When imagineering, if you close your eyes (obviously not if you're imagineering while driving)... and look up, and to the right, and you include imagineering sounds, smells, touch, vibrations, it might serve you well.  If you're visualizing negatives, shift to black & white, out of focus, and reduce the picture to tiny, and shift to vivid color, large, for empowering images, to overpower the negative.  Remember, our conscious can only handle 7 ± 2 bits at one time.  We can easily get all our conscious channels busy with empowering thoughts and feelings.

You may find it useful to spend a few minutes focusing on one of your significant successes, real or imagined, before proceeding to ask your empowering questions, to get your body and mind into success chemistry, a really resourceful state.
